White pants usually look like vendor fodder, but they can be worth saving if Death’s Pavane is on your Rogue’s wish list. This Unique is built for Dance of Knives players: enemies you hit can drop knives, and grabbing them raises the skill’s damage for a brief window. The bonus can stack three times, so the playstyle feels more active than simply chasing bigger stat rolls. Keep a few spare D4 items choices in mind, but don’t overlook this Cube route when your Obols are piling up. Buy white pants from the Purveyor of Curiosities, then feed them into the Horadric Cube’s Unique-upgrade recipe. The result isn’t targeted, since every Unique pants option is in the mix, yet it’s a handy side project while you run other content.
Varshan is the focused route
If you’d rather aim at one loot pool instead of rolling the dice on every pair of pants, Echo of Varshan is the better stop. He sits in the Initiate Lair Boss tier, and Death’s Pavane is among the rewards tied to his Hoard. The fight itself is only half the job. After Varshan falls, the Hoard chest needs one Lair Key before it’ll give up its contents. That detail catches people out. No key means no boss reward, so check your stock before heading in. For a Dance of Knives setup, this is normally the route I’d prioritise first, then use the white-pants upgrades whenever spare Obols start taking over the stash.
Farming options at a glance
Method | What you spend | Where the result comes from.
Varshan Hoard | One Lair Key | Varshan’s dedicated reward pool.
Cube Amalgamation | Five Malignant Hearts | A direct pull from Varshan’s pool.
White pants upgrade | Obols and Cube resources | The wider Unique-pants pool.
The first two options are far more focused. The last one is best treated as extra value, not the main plan. It can still pay off, especially after a long session where you’ve got plenty of white pants and nothing else to do with them.Keep Lair Keys coming
War Plans make repeated Varshan runs much less of a slog. Build a playlist of up to five activities you actually enjoy, whether that’s Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, or Infernal Hordes. As you work through those activities and their progression paths, Lair Keys start arriving without all the back-and-forth travel that breaks up a normal farming session. Pick content your Rogue clears quickly. Fast, comfortable runs tend to beat forcing yourself through the hardest option every time. You’ll also keep gaining gear, gold, and other useful drops while preparing the next Hoard opening.
Use the Cube when the keys run dry
Malignant Hearts give you a second targeted option through the Horadric Cube in Temis, once the Lord of Hatred campaign is done. Put five Hearts into the Amalgamation recipe and you’ll receive an item from Varshan’s reward selection, with no Lair Key or boss fight needed. It’s a good answer when you’ve got trophies sitting around but no key left. Rotate between War Plans, Varshan, and Cube crafting, and use spare Diablo 4 materials where they make the most sense. That routine keeps every session moving toward Death’s Pavane instead of leaving resources untouched.
